Abstract: Co2+ fluorescent probes have been scarcely developed in recent years because it is difficult to selectively sense cobalt ions in presence of competitive divalent ions. Herein, is an account of synthesis and characterization of reasonably designed turn-on fluorescent probe SGPB1 with Salicylhydrazide as binding site based on BODIPY adapted fluorophore. It was capable to operate in CHEF mechanism toward Co2+ and showed high sensitivity and remarkable selectivity for Co2+ with 10-fold fluorescence enhancement. Furthermore, cell imaging experiments proved that SGPB1 was suitable for detecting Co2+ in biological environment. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
