Abstract:A new method, aiming to calculate stress intensity factor (SIF) for multi collinear through cracks, was proposed. This method can determine the SIF based on the maximum crack opening displacement (COD) which can be easily obtained. Firstly, the relationship between the SIF and the maximum COD of a through crack is deduced by the respective analysis solutions. Then, considering the influences of some factors, such as plate widths, crack spacing ratios and crack lengths ratios, the fitting curves of various correction coefficients are obtained. Subsequently, the relationship between the SIF and the maximum COD for the two collinear cracks is established. Finally, the composite method to calculate SIF is performed to determine correction coefficients and then the SIFs of multi collinear cracks can be determined.
