Abstract:Based on the combination of stress field intensity approach and finite element method, the effects of parameters of the welded joints are analyzed, such as plate thickness, weld toe radius and weld bead flank angle. The empirical formula for evaluating the fatigue notch factor of butt-welded joints is presented by us-ing the calculation results. The empirical formula for evaluating the difference between the fatigue strength of butt-welded joints under tension load and that under bending load is presented. The results show that the local parameters have a significant impact on the fatigue life of butt-welded joints, and that the fatigue strength of butt-welded joints under tension load is less than that under bending load, and the decreasing magnitude is only related with the weld bead flank angle.
