Abstract:A 3D compact viscous-spring boundary element with stiffness and damping matrixes similar to general finite element was established though viscous-spring artificial boundary theory and embedded in the generalized finite element software ANSYS based on User Programmable Features (UPFs). The lamb problem and inner source problem were analyzed as verification. The results show that the present element has the same good performance of accuracy and stability as the equivalent spring-damper element and the former is more simple and applicable. Further more, with the powerful development platform and numerical solvers in ANSYS, the mentioned method can be extended to add other elements which are used for specific applications to standard ANSYS procedure.
