Numerical Simulation of Flow in Rectangular Duct Considered Rotational Effect

摘要:The SST k-omega turbulence model based on the open-source CFD codes OpenFOAM is applied to calculate the fluid flow in the rotating rectangular duct. The rotation rates range from Or/min to 2000r/min. The calculation results involve the distribution of velocity and secondary flows of the rotational flow field and the variation of boundary layer thickness with the rotation rates. The present numerical results are compared with the experimental and numerical data from available literatures. The comparison shows a well agreement. At the same time, the effects of Coriolis and centrifugal forces on the velocity, pressure and the development of boundary layers are analyzed according to the numerical results. The analysis result shows that the mainstream velocity in the duct rises with the increases of rotation rate and the profile of the velocity in y-direction becomes asymmetric which is different from that of static state. The velocity of the pressure-side rises while the velocity of suction-side decreases, so there appears the peak of velocity near the pressureside. And the pressure-side boundary layers thinning while the opposite side boundary layers thickening with the rotation strengthen. The boundary layer of suction-side becomes separated when the rotation is strengthened to a high level.
