Abstract: Although melamine(1, 3, 5-triazine-2, 4, 6-triamine) is not one type of food additives, it has been found to be added into milk and various dairy products being an illegal non-protein N source, due to its good nitrogen content(66% by mass). Electrochemiluminescence(ECL) of Ru(bpy)32+ at glassy carbon (GC) electrode and gold (Au) electrode has been employed for determination of melamine at first time, the detection range is from 1.0 × 10-10 mol &middot L-1 to 1.0 × 10-5 mol &middot L-1 at both GC electrode and Au electrode in pH 10 phosphate buffer, and the melamine detection limit is 1.0 × 10-10 mol &middot L-1 at a signal to noise ratio of three. This is better than the literature results by utilizing the other detecting methods. The result also demonstrated that the method can meet the demand for detecting permissible concentration of melamine in milk products. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of melamine added into a commercial milk sample, the recovery is quite satisfied with good reproducibility and stability. All these provide a possibility to develop a novel ECL melamine detection method. © All Rights Reserved.
