Profile
I received my PhD degree from Colorado State University in the U.S. in 1993, majoring in Agricultural and Natural Economics. After twenty years of studying and working in the United States, I came to join in School of Management, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) in 2007. Prior to coming back China, I was professor of economics at Tarleton State University in Texas A&M University System. From 2007 onward, I’ve been a professor and Ph.D. supervisor at Faculty of Management and Economics, DUT. Currently, I am professor of economics at Kyushu Business School of Kyushu University in Japan.
Over the years, I’ve developed various research interests including economic valuation on natural and environmental resources (socalled nonmarket valuation), tourism economics and management, economic impact assessment of the governmental regulations on agricultural non-point source pollution, and crop insurances. However, in recent years my research interests are primarily focused on tourism economics/management and technological economics/management. These research activities are financially supported from various sources, including China Natural Science Foundation, China Ministry of Education, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
As far as the academic achievements, I’ve published more than 100 peer reviewed journal articles and books in various research fields crossing over tourism economics, tourism management, agricultural economics, sustainable development, natural resource and environmental conservation. Of which 60 papers were published in international journals of being categorized as SSCI (Social Sciences Citation Index) and SCI (Science Citation Index) journal papers.
