Fuzzy control of grinding force in ultrasonic aided ceramic grinding process

摘要:Grinding method is an effective way to process hard and brittle materials, such as ceramics. However, it is necessary to control the grinding force to achieve the desired surface quality and dimensional precision of ceramics parts. In this paper, we present the study results of the influence of machining parameters on the grinding force and its influence on machining performance such as machining speed and surface roughness. To improve machining efficiency and surface quality, the grinding process is aided with ultrasonic vibration. To control the grinding force, the fuzzy control strategy is used in this study. The effect of grinding force control on stability is studied. It has been found that the machining process is more stable with ultrasonic vibration than that without it. Ultrasonic vibration enhances machining speed and surface quality. ? 2011 IEEE.
