Abstract:Ethyl acetate decoloring liquids from downstream processing of clavulanic acid was used to study clavulanic acid stability in ethyl acetate solution. Degradation of clavulanic acid in ethyl acetate solution under different water contents was studied at different temperatures (0, 5, 20 and 30 ℃) and pH (2±0.5). Parameters of degradation kinetics and thermodynamics such as reaction rate constant, half-life, reaction activation energy, enthalpy change and free energy were obtained through fitting data from degradation experiments and kinetic/thermodynamic analysis. It is concluded that clavulanic acid is more stable in organic solvents than in aqueous solution. Degradation increases with the increase of water content, and the results show that the degradation reaction is an endothermic and no-spontaneous reaction.
