Abstract: The quick developments of coastal cites in Liaoning have resulted in great lack of land resources. Consequently high-rise residential districts have mushroomed in recent years. How to combine the design of such high-rise residential districts with local oceanic climate has become a subject worthy of close attention. Due to the high-speed winter wind, windbreak measures are of great significance to the outdoor thermal comfort and building efficiency of high-rise residential districts. By analyzing meteorological data and energy efficiency computing parameters, the article discusses a comprehensive design strategy to achieve windbreak in winter and ventilation in summer for high-rise residential districts by means of proper layout design, architectural forms and plant configuration. The high-rise residential district in the last part of the article showcases the application of CFD simulative technology to the planning scheme as well as the integration of sunlight analysis and ventilation simulation, which provide technical foundation to landscape environmental design ? 2011 IEEE.
