Abstract: Considering the fact that high-rise residential buildings are mushrooming in recent years in the coastal cities of Liaoning, a questionnaire survey of such basic information as building type, envelope information, the inhabitants' lifestyle and thermal satisfaction and a site investigation into the thermal environment of typical high-rise apartments for a consecutive week in the winter of 20092010 have been carried out. The article analyzes the survey and investigation results, and further discusses the relationship between residential layout design and thermal environment. ? 2011 IEEE.
