Abstract: Single-crystalline PbCrO4 nanorods, nanowires and amorphous PbCr4O13 nanotubes have been successfully synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method in the presence of L-lysine. The morphology and crystal structure of the products can be easily adjusted by changing the reaction temperature. The PbCr4O13/PbS nanocomposites can be further synthesized by using the amorphous nanotubes as template and introducing S ions to the reaction system. The morphology and structure of the lead chromate 1D nanostructures and the PbCr4O13/PbS nanocomposites were systematically studied by means of XRD, SEM, TEM, HRTEM. The optical properties of the final products were also investigated in detail.
