Abstract:In this study, the gaseous detonation method was used to prepare SiO2-TiO2 nanocomposites and determine the influences of different SiO2 contents on morphology, property, and photocatalysis behavior. X-ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscope, energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer, ultraviolet (UV)-visible spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize sample structure, component, particle size, morphology, and optical properties. Photocatalysis was determined through the experiment of UV light degradation of methyl orange solution. Results indicated that the existence of SiO2 inhibited the growth of TiO2 particles and the transformation of anatase phase into rutile phase while improving the specific surface of the samples. With the increase of SiO2 content, the photocatalytic activity of SiO2-TiO2 nanocomposites showed an initially increasing and then decreasing trend. When SiO2 content was 5 mol%, the samples presented optimal photocatalytic activity and an anatase-phase structure with an average particle size of 15.3 nm and a specific surface area of 77 m(2)/g. The apparent reaction rate constant was 0.112 min(-1); this value was higher than that of pure TiO2.
