Abstract:Surface Plasmon Resonance Technology has becoming very popular in quantitative and qualitative analysis of biological and chemical area because of its high sensitivity, non-invasive transduction mechanisms, and no distraction in the background. Currently, miniaturization, ultrahigh sensitivity, stability and high repeatability are major requirements and development trend of modern SPR technology. In this paper, a wavelength-modulated prism based SPR system is constructed and conducted for refractive index detection. The characteristics of this SPR system are evaluated which demonstrate the red shifts of SPR wavelengths and FWHM expanding with the refractive index of the detected solution increasing. The sensitivity of the SPR system is 3.93 x 10(-6) refractive index unit, the repeatability is calibrated. This SPA system can be used for angle-modulated SPA measurements which lead to a compact fiber optic SPA system.
