Abstract:To verify the applicability of the theory of critical state on the fly
ash material,a series of tests are carried out using GDS triaxial
testing machine,which is equipped with the triaxial digital image
deformation measurement system.CD triaxial compression tests are
performed on two different types of specimens(drying and saturated).The
stress-strain relationships of two types of specimens are
analyzed,especially,the critical state characteristics and the
influencing factors of critical state of the saturated fly ash are
focused on.The evolutions of the surface deformation for specimen with
different initial density over the process of reaching the critical void
ratio are obtained.The influence of the relative density on the
stress-strain behavior of the fly ash is discussed.The dense sand will
show a strain softening behavior,while the loose sand will show a strain
hardening behavior.
