Abstract:For improving the key properties of C/C-SiC composites under harsh environments, the ultra-high temperature ceramic particles, ZrC, were introduced into the matrix of C/C-SiC composites by slurry infiltration technique. The influence of mass fraction of ZrC on microstructures and mechanical properties of the composite was investigated. The results show that the mass fraction of ZrC has a significant influence on mechanical properties of composites, and the optimal flexural properties are achieved as the 5 wt% ZrC was introduced. © 2017 The American Ceramic Society.
