Abstract:Patent-intensive enterprises, which possess numerous patents, have relatively strong technological innova-tive capabilities and trade competitive abilities. And the patent-intensive enterprises which are cited most, present obvious knowledge spillovers. The patent citation behaviors among those enterprises could reflect the technological competitive status of an enterprise, the technological competitive situation of an industry and the technological in-novative activeness of a country. In this study, we search the patent-intensive enterprises which possess the most patents and citations around the world in Derwent Innovations Index. Based on the analysis about the state and in-dustrial distribution of these enterprises, we find that most of them are distributed among a few developed coun-tries like Japan and America, and a few industries like motor vehicles and parts, electrical and electronic equip-ment. We analyze the direct patent citation behaviors, the situations of transnational and cross-industry citation. The patent citation networks show the important roles of key enterprises in connecting patent citation network.
