Abstract: To investigate and solve the difficulty in micro-milling Inconel 718 micro components, in this paper, an investigation about finite element analysis based on ABAQUS in micro-milling of nickel-based superalloy was presented, and the equivalent plastic strain of micro-milling Inconel718 groove surface was obtained; the relationship between feed per tooth and plastic deformation was demonstrated based on finite element analysis, and the hardness of micro-milling Inconel 718 surface was gained. The prediction model based on the input of cutting parameters and output of Vickers hardness was developed. At last, the experiments of micro-milling Inconel718 were conducted to verify the validity of the model. The methodology proposed in this paper can offer references for selecting cutting parameters in micro-milling nickel-based superalloy, and offer research ideas for hardness prediction by ABAQUS finite element analysis.
