Abstract:Owing to the limitation of the switching losses and heat elimination, the maximum switching frequency of the high power motor drive system is generally lower. In addition, the fundamental voltage of the inverter can be effectively improved with overmodulation algorithm. However, the classical overmodulation algorithm for space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) needs to store a lot of data in advance and the control precision is not perfect. Considering the above two reasons, this paper presents the synchronized SVPWM strategy in the overmodulation region using superposition principle. Consequently, the equivalent carrier-based modulated functions of the strategies in the overmodulation mode I and II are derived respectively based on the regular sampling rules of carrier-based pulse width modulation. Experimental results illustrate the validity and effectiveness of the algorithm.
