Summer Camp 2025

Research on Seismic Resilience and Sustainability of Infrastructure Buildings

With the acceleration of urbanization, the seismic resilience and sustainability of civil, transportation, and water infrastructure in the face of large-scale earthquakes have become a global concern. This international summer camp, hosted by Prof. Cui Yao from the School of Infrastructure Engineering at Dalian University of Technology, aims to promote cutting-edge research on seismic safety and resilience in infrastructure buildings. By sharing the latest international achievements in smart design, monitoring, construction, and earthquake damage reporting, the camp seeks to foster international collaboration, ensuring the safety, recoverability, and sustainability of infrastructure buildings.

Purpose:

²  Explore applications of smart construction technologies in seismic design, monitoring, construction, and post-earthquake recovery.

²  Promote research on novel resilient structural systems, building health monitoring, and structural resilience assessment.

²  Establish an international research network to facilitate data sharing and transnational collaborative studies.

Contents:

(1) Resilient Infrastructure Building Systems

²  Investigate resilience-based design methodologies for buildings, including steel frames, wharves, and transmission towers, under seismic loads.

²  Discuss the application of high-performance materials and structural systems in earthquake resistance.

(2) Structural Health Monitoring

²  AI-based structural health analysis and early warning systems.

²  Development of real-time data acquisition and analysis platforms for structural safety assessment.

(3) Structural Resilience Assessment and Optimization

²  Develop models for structural resilience assessment to quantify building performance during seismic events.

²  Utilize Digital Twin technology to optimize structural design and seismic performance.

(4) Smart Construction Technology Applications

²  Application of 3D printing technology in earthquake-resistant buildings.

²  Development and implementation of intelligent construction management systems.

Invite renowned scholars from China, Japan, New Zealand, Canada, and other countries to share the latest research findings in seismic resilience assessment and smart construction. Organize online seminars to facilitate interaction between participants and international experts.
