Abstract:The ocean oil storage vessel is a very large floating structure (VLFS),thus its hydroelastic response is an important problem to be predicted.By using sine modal shape functions,the radiation potential and hydroelastic response were expressed in terms of the modal superposition.Then the velocity potential and fluid stress on the body surface of a quarter model were solved according to the structural symmetry by means of the Green function method based on 3 D potential theory.The hydroelastic response of the oil storage vessel,deflection of the vessel bottom and bending moment were calculated by use of the hydroelastic equation of motion.Hydrodynamic parameters were also analyzed with the change of water depth and wavelength.The results provide a theoretical basis for future design and research work.
