Abstract:The elevating rate of temperature at the inner surface offlange joint has great effect to change of gasket stress. In this paper, by usingfinite element software ANSYS, transient and steady thermal-structural coupling analysis for high temperatureflange joint with graphite gasket were carried out. It was shown that with both two analysis methods the stress in gasket was reduced, and irreversible compressive damage of gasket will occur if elevating rate of temperature is extra fast. For DN200 PN40flange without insulation, when elevating rate of temperature was lower than 6.8 K/min, the result from thermal-structural analysis, in which steady temperaturefield was substituted for transient temperaturefield, shown that the relative error of maximum stresses in gasket obtained in two methods was within 5% and the relative error of stresses at outer side of gasket was around 10.7%.
