Abstract:To find out a simple and effective stent expansion simulation method for stent optimization based on finite element analysis results, an effective optimization method using Kriging surrogate model combing with modified Latin hypercube sampling was proposed to reduce the 'Dogboning' effect of stent in the expansion process based on the two commonly used simulation methods: (i) pressure applied on the inner surface of balloon and (ii) radial displacement applied on balloon to dilate stent. As an example, a typical diamond stent was study and two optimization results were achieved, respectively. The numerical results indicate that optimal stent based on the first simulation method has good qualitative agreement with manufacturer's design idea.
