Realization of real-time communication system of PLC with inverter and PC based on Profibus

Abstract:This paper introduces an automation control system based on Profibus field-bus and its realization. In the Profibus network, Siemens PLC300 is the main station and the slave station is two ABB ACS 800 frequency inverters which connect to the network by PROFIBUS DP Adapter Module, and the Industrial Personal Computer (IPC) inserted with CP 5611 A2 communicating card is also connected into the network. The network settings and the software programming of the communication system based on the Profibus between the Siemens PLC and ABB PLC ACS800 is introduced detailedly in this paper. Meanwhile, the communication and data exchange between LabVIEW software and SIMATIC PLC by using the OPC (OLE for Process Control) server of SIMATIC NET is also expounded. This communication system has applied to a performance testing system of the high-speed gearbox, and the effect is great. The control part of system is mainly realized by PLC, which is very reliable. Meanwhile, LabVIEW has strong data acquisition and automation integration function, so it makes the system more prevalent in the field of industrial automation. ? 2011 Institute of Electronic and Information Technology.
