Abstract:The non-instrusive measurement of wave surface elevation attaches much importance to wave research in ocean engineering. A new method based on light refraction and B-spline is presented in this paper. The wave surface slopes are given by the analysis of the images of an indication plane respectively in the cases of no water, still water and waves. B-spline is used to solve the partial differential equations derived from the geometric optics to reconstruct the wave surface in least square sense.
