Abstract: Mesh models of plant organs generated by widely used plant geometric modeling methods has the properties of messy, low quality and high uniform density. In order to simplify and optimize the mesh models of plant organs, a QEM based method was proposed to obtain a multi-scale simplification of plant organ mesh. The Laplacian smoothing method was used to optimize the simplified mesh model. Results and analysis showed that the method can greatly simplify the plant canopy model and guarantee the quality of mesh simultaneously. Computational efficiency of intelligent computation using the simplified plant model can be greatly improved. The proposed method provides strong technical support for 3D plant model based intelligence computing and improves the efficiency of related research.
