Abstract: JPEG image inpainting problem is to fill in the missed information in the Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT) domain. Efficient methods for image inpainting in space domain have been proposed by total variation regularization. In this paper, we extend it to the DCT domain and import the nonlocal total variation regularization in order to recover textures and local geometry structures simultaneously. The associated Euler-Lagrange equations lead to nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) in the DCT domain. Finally, we compare the performance of TV and NLTV regularizations in DCT domain. ? 2010 Binary Information Press.
