Abstract:Based on principle of energy dissipation, damage variable is defined to analyze the test results of gypsum board containing pre-existing cracks under uniaxial compression, in order to obtain the damage evolution law. Through a series of tests, damage evolution develops slowly and stably before the board is broken, though it develops rapidly after the board is broken. Then damage variable can be taken as an indicative parameter of rock broken to applying to practical engineering. It can be inferred that rock bridge, angle of cracks and angle of rock bridge would have different influence on damage revolution, and the influence of rock bridge angle is particularly significant. ? 2013 ejge.
