Abstract: Porous magnesium hydroxide nanoplates were synthesized directly from natural brucite in the presence of magnesium lactate through a simple hydrothermal process. Magnesium lactate may play a role of conveyer in transporting hydroxy groups from brucite to Mg(OH)(2) nanoplates. (c) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
