Abstract: We design an unconventional strategy for controlling the nanostructure evolution of magnesium hydroxide from lamellar to rose-like, then to torispherical species by introducing diverse valent cations (Zn(2+), Al(3+), Sn(4+)). Lattice distortion induced by invasive cations would be responsible for the morphology transformation of metal hydroxide.
