Surface deformation evaluation by parameterization of 3D raw data

Abstract:For studying the deformation of a soft object based on 3D raw data acquired with a 3D scanner, the object surfaces at different status need to be compatible, i.e., any two surfaces should have the same topological structure and the same parameterization. For different raw data and related surfaces, unitary structure and parameterization can be generated by deforming the 2D parameter domain and by remeshing 3D surfaces. Algorithms for both deformation and remeshing are discussed in this paper. Sibson coordinates and subdivision surface are introduced for parametric domain deformation and mesh surface remeshing respectively.
