Jingwei Xian received his PhD degree in metallurgy at Imperial College London in 2017, where he spent further years as a Research Associate on the crystal growth control in Sn and Mg alloys, collaborating with Prof. Chris Gourlay and Prof. Fionn Dunne. Jingwei became a Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Dalian University of Technology, and was awarded the Outstanding Young Scholars fellowship. He is interested in investigating the solidification processing, microstructure control and the crystal growth of intermetallic compounds, covering light alloys and Pb-free electronic solders. His research group is also dedicated to the advancement of EBSD-related techniques and tools.
Current research interests include:
1. Nucleation, crystal growth and solidification processing in alloys
2. Reliability and thermal fatigue in tin-based solder alloys
3. The influence of intermetallics on magnesium solidification and properties
4. The performance and functionality of full intermetallic compound alloys
5. The application and development of EBSD technique and tools
