Ultrasonic inspection of concrete due to hydrostatic compression

摘要:An experimental study of the hydrostatic compression behavior of concrete has been performed using 100 mm concrete cubes. A hydrostatic compression test consists of imposing the axial displacement at a constant quasi-static rate (5 m/s) while keeping the pressure equal to the axial stress. The compressive strength and ultrasonic velocity are measured before and after loading history, respectively. The reduction of compressive strength denotes the damage of concrete. Linearity fit and comparison analysis of experimental data is performed to describe the evolution of damage with respect to the descent of ultrasonic velocity. Research results show that, with the decrease in ultrasonic velocity beyond critical threshold, the damage has good linear relations with the reduction of ultrasonic velocity. It is concluded that ultrasonic inspection can be used in conjunction with destructive mechanical methods such as compression to strengthen the reliability of the result. ? 2012 ASCE.
