Effect of TPrA group on ECL of ruthenium tris-bipyridyl complexes

摘要:A novel ruthenium tris-bipyridyl complex V, in which four tripropylamine (TPrA) groups and one acid activating group are covalently linked to the bipyridine ring of Ru(bpy)32+, was designed and synthesized. Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) performance of complex V was studied on different working electrode such as Pt, Glassy carbon and Au, in comparison with that of complex I (containing one TPrA group), complex II (containing two TPrA groups)and the reference Ru(bpy)32+ (no TPrA group). The results demonstrate that the conjugate ruthenium complex alone can generate ECL through intramolecular interaction at a relative lower concentration, while intermolecular interaction ECL intensity increases progressively and become more and more dominant along with the increasing of the complex concentration. Meanwhile, intramolecular interaction ECL was observed to be increased along with the increasing of the TPrA group in the molecule, while both inter-and intramolecular interaction ECL was decreased along with the increasing of the TPrA group after addition of extra TPrA reductant, and the intramolecular ECL efficiency was 1, 6, 5 times of that corresponding intermolecular cases. One TPrA substituent is better for the coreactant system in order to diminish the steric hindrance to achieve a good ECL performance. All these can pave a new route to further improve the ECL efficiency and increase the sensitivity of detection through combining both intra-and intermolecular interaction. © All Rights Reserved.
