主要开展低维纳米材料的结构、生长、物性调控方面的理论和实验研究，研究领域还包括纳米团簇在医学领域的应用（纳米酶杀菌、伤口愈合、纳米酶或纳米团簇药物递送治疗肿瘤等。研究手段包括第一性原理计算模拟、机器学习力场跨尺度模拟和实验（化学气相沉积和磁控溅射生长低维材料、飞秒激光器测量非线性光学性质）。
