摘要:A new quenching process for nodular cast iron named forge-quenching heat treatment is developed. Nodular cast iron underwent hot forging immediately followed by quenching at 790 degrees C in water. Compared with conventional quenched nodular cast iron, microstructure analysis shows the existence of finer acicular martensitic structure and prolate ellipsoids graphite particles in forge-quenched nodular cast iron. The hardness and impact test results show that the forge-quenched nodular cast iron presents superior mechanical properties to conventional quenched nodular cast iron. The wear rate and the friction coefficient are 2 times lower than quenched white cast iron which is used as grinding balls.
