Abstract:In this paper, we present an approach to blend the corner of three coordinate planes by G(k) continuous piecewise algebraic surfaces of minimal degree. The geometric continuity conditions for algebraic surface patch complexes meeting at a common vertex are converted to a problem of solving an algebraic system of equations over polynomial ring. G(k) continuous piecewise algebraic blending surface patches are obtained by solving the system via the generator basis algorithm of the prime module over polynomial ring. The constructed blending surface to the corner in this paper is of the lowest degree. The blending domain and the shape of the blending surface can be easily controlled by a few parameters. Numerical examples to so-called symmetric domain are provided to illustrate the blending method in the paper. The results of the paper can be used to blend any three algebraic surfaces transversally meeting at a common point by combining with the potential method.
