Abstract:Technology adoption has been an important research topic in information systems (IS) field Many theories were developed and tested since 1980s. Tremendous efforts have been made to modify, integrate, and extend these theories to explore IT adoption issues in various contexts. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of the current state of IT adoption research. The paper presents results of analysis based on review of 211 IT adoption research papers published in leading IS journals and conference proceedings between 2000 and 2006 from five perspectives, namely, theoretical foundation, research level, research method, IT/IS type and dependent variable.
