Abstract:The characteristics and main existing problems in the experimental teaching of civil engineering are analyzed and summarized . Combining the actual teaching situation , the general approach to experimental teaching reform is proposed .A preliminary practical application in the experiments of FRP reinforced concrete and shear failure of masonry is carried out .It is shown that numerical simulation can be complementary to the actual laboratory operations to improve the experimental teaching of civil engineering in colleges and universities .
