摘要:Spray characteristics of a piezo outward-opening pintle-type injector, including spray angle, spray tip penetration and cycle fuel injection quantity, are investigated under different boundary conditions. Based on spray images, an empirical equation for spray axial tip penetration is obtained. Furthermore, for qualitatively analyzing the characteristics of spray distribution and atomization, a concept named spray volume enhancement ratio, SVER, is proposed based on the experimental results. The images taken by ultra high-speed camera proves that the cone spray actually consists of hundreds of strings, instead of a continuous structure. This phenomenon provides evidence for further research on spray characteristics of this kind of injector.
