摘要:In this study,the evaporation behaviors of cylinder oil and base oil droplets were investigated by the ap-plication of a droplet suspending apparatus to investigate the mechanism of cylinder lube oil droplet auto-ignition and to solve the problem of the abnormal combustion caused by the auto-ignition. The influence of ambient tempera-ture,droplet diameter,and base oil content on the evaporation behaviors was measured and analyzed. The results revealed that under high ambient temperature conditions,the cylinder oil droplets were subjected to fierce distortion and breakup. These phenomena also appeared in the evaporation experiments of 150 BS base oil,which is a major constituent of cylinder oil. However,these results were not obtained with 400 SN base oil. The lifetime of cylinder oil droplets relates closely to the ambient temperature, droplet initial diameters, and the content of base oil. The increase in ambient temperature,reduction of oil droplet size and increase in refined base oil content decreases the lifespan of cylinder oil droplets.
