MOULD TAPER OPTIMIZATION FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING STEELS BY SOLIDIFICATION SHRINKAGE SIMULATION

摘要:A transient, two-dimensional, coupled finite element model was employed to simulate the solidification and shrinkage of continuous casting steels by means of ANSYS (TM). In the model, a gap-dependent heat transfer condition was introduced to modify the function of heat flux, and the variations of material thermal properties, mechanical properties as well yield function with temperature were considered. The solidification and shrinkage processing of four round billets and two square billets provided by enterprise were simulated by indirect coupled method. The simulation results showed that carbon content, the steel casting speed and shape of billets had obvious influence on solidification and shrinkage of billets. The mould tapers were the continuous parabolic curve along the height of mould. In the outlet of the mould, the average shrinkage of round billets reached 3.8mm, but the average shrinkage of square billets was only 1.1mm in the boundary center. At last, according to the shrinkage curves of billets, the continuous parabolic tapers for mould were designed.
