SUMMARY BIO
Wei Xia joined Dalian University of Technology as a full professor in June 2025. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2020. Following his doctoral studies, Wei gained invaluable experience, spending two years as a Research Fellow at NUS and an additional eight months as a Senior AI Researcher at Tencent, one of the world's largest multimedia technology powerhouses, akin to Meta and Google. After Tencent, he spent two years as a Research Fellow at POLIMI in Italy. His research focuses on the development and management of expansive water resources systems. As part of this analysis, he has developed successful optimization algorithms for computationally expensive hydrologic simulation models. The tools he developed involve hydrologic science, operations research, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing with the goal to find cost-effective and robust solutions for water resources and environmental issues. Wei was awarded the Kamide Early Career Lecture Award by the Asian Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) in 2023.
We are actively recruiting postdoctoral researchers, PhD candidates, and master's students with strong backgrounds in hydrology, mathematics, computer science, management science, or related disciplines. If you are passionate about cutting-edge research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic excellence, we invite you to apply! Interested candidates are welcome to submit their CV (including research interests, publications, and academic records) via email: xiawei@dlut.edu.cn / xiawei@u.nus.edu
