Abstract: The population transfer via continuum for the Li-2 molecule is theoretically investigated using time-dependent quantum wave packet method. With proper laser pulses, a high efficient population transfer can be achieved, and the selective ro-vibrational population transfer via continuum can be realized. The population transfer process is qualitatively interpreted employing the concept of light-induced potential. The effect of molecular rotation on the population transfer and the angular distribution of population is described in detail. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
