Identification of particulate contaminant source locations in enclosed spaces with inverse CFD modelling

摘要:Knowing indoor particulate pollutant source locations is always helpful to minimize the pollutant exposure. This study proposes to locate the particulate sources by two approaches: the quasi-reversibility (QR) method and the contaminant source zone prescription method via the Lagrangian-reversibility (LR). The QR method reverses the time proceeding direction and replaces the second-order diffusion term with a fourth-order stabilization term in an Eulerian reference frame. The zone-prescription LR method reverses the particulate transport trajectories in a Lagrangian reference frame by injecting particles at the zone boundary which circumscribe the largest level of concentration contour at a time. The zone scope of these particle positions at t=0 s is thought to be capable to denote the actual contaminant source. By testing these methods in a square cavity and an aircraft cabin, it finds both the QR method and the LR method can accurately locate the particulate sources released instantaneously at a spot.
