Abstract:Based on mathematical description of the long-term distribution for wave parameters the numerical formula of wave height is determined which is the function of the excess probability encountered by ship and length of hull. The ratio of wave and hull length is taken as 1.0. The computational region for wave angle of encounter is limited from 180 degrees( head waves) to 90 degrees( beam waves ) with certain interval. By using the revised strip method the calculations of motion and load induced by waves are developed with so called the hull bound perturbation flow concept (Hachmann,1991) in order to improve the calculating accuracy of hydrodynamic pressure. A sample of numerical test for the oceangoing ship named LR-A are provided including hydrodynamic pressures on hull side and bottom with various excess probability, direction of incident wave and phase of ship motion in order to determine the computational state for ship design.
