Abstract:This paper developed two computer codes for radial inflow turbine design
and analysis with supercritical carbon oxide(S-CO_2) as working media.
Both codes incorporated empirical loss model and real gas thermodynamic
properties. First the accuracy of the loss models were validated against
experimental data. Then an S-CO_2 radial inflow turbine was designed and
analyzed by developed codes, and checked by 3D CFD numerical
simulations. Final results indicated that the design and off-design
performance of the designed S-CO_2 radial-inflow turbine were good,and
the results of one-dimensional calculation agreed well with values of
numerical simulation, which demonstrated that the codes were precise and
reliable. However the predicted choking mass flow rate was higher than
that of numerical simulation, and further improvement can be made in
that respect.
