Abstract:This paper presents a simulation of the construction process of a constant internal pressure spiral case with non-uniform gap of hydropower stations, through ABAQUS FEM computation with consideration of the case contact with the peripheral reinforced concrete. In addition, simulations of the turbine operation stage show the time variation of the gap opening and the property of the case-concrete contact. A detailed analysis is given on the time variation of characteristic stresses in the spiral case, the reinforcement as well as the concrete. By comparing with the simplified simulation, it is concluded that the full simulation is of more practical value and that the simulation results obtained for a real project are reasonable, which could be useful for both construction monitoring and safety evaluation on long-term operation of the constant pressure spiral case.
