Abstract:In the late 20th century, some western scholars found traditional career had evolved into protean and boundaryless career, which caused some changes, such as employment concepts, employment relationship, career success criteria, and the mode of career management etc. The purpose of this study is exploring the changes of career in Chinese culture and environment. The study applies to the tools measuring protean and boundaryless career attitudes, takes knowledge workers of the enterprise as the analytic object, and analyzes 162 valid samples by empirical study method. The results indicate that Chinese knowledge workers in enterprises have possessed relatively high protean and boundaryless career attitudes, which may be significantly different among different groups of employees due to differences in gender, age, education, position and types of enterprise. The findings also suggest that protean and boundaryless career may display several features of reactivity, activity, boundarylessness, mobility, diversity and complexity.
