Abstract:With the increasing requirement on the controlling of industrial production cost, a thorough study of heat exchanger network has been obtained great interests for more and more researchers, it is an important aspect in the deep study of heat exchanger network synthesis that considering detailed heat exchanger design, it can reduce the annual total cost of the heat exchanger network by considering detailed heat exchanger design, and it can improve the practical feasibility for the results of the heat exchanger network synthesis. The necessity of considering detailed heat exchanger design was verified with an example which came from a literature, the cost of the heat exchanger network with a detailed heat exchanger design was significantly lower than that without detailed heat exchanger design, and the influence of detailed heat exchanger design on heat exchanger network synthesis was emphasized in this article. Pinch analysis method and mathematical programming method were used for the heat exchanger network synthesis considering detailed heat exchanger design in the literatures, heat exchanger network synthesis with pinch analysis method made the structure of heat exchanger network with detailed heat exchanger design easy to be solved, but it cannot guarantee that it was the global optimal solution. Heat exchanger network synthesis with mathematical programming method was effect to consider the influence of the detailed heat exchanger design on the heat exchanger network synthesis, but it made the mathematical model more complex by considering detailed heat exchanger design, it was compared and reviewed in this article. The future research development was pointed out to have a deep study in detailed heat exchanger network synthesis and get a global optimal solution with a fast and efficient algorithm.
